First United Methodist Church in downtown Springdale along with the help of Arts Center of the Ozarks are seeking proposals for artwork in the public art realm to expand art and culture throughout the community to reflect the growing artistic endeavors in Northwest Arkansas. We are seeking proposals for artwork at the His Helping Hands clothes closet, located in downtown Springdale.

The location is in downtown at 130 N Main with the designated wall space located on the south side of the building facing Emma Ave.  There is an awarded stipend of $2000 to cover supplies, materials and artist fees. The First United Methodist Church would like all proposals to have a theme of helping hands and whatever that means to you as an artist.  The linear wall space is 50ft long with a height of 12 ½ ft. You may render proposals that use all the space or part.

Proposals submitted must be thorough within the initial concept sketch with either color added to sketch or a color palette attached.  This is a juried selection with awarded design as the final concept for mural. The awarded proposal will be notified the week of June 10, 2019.  The project will have a start date of July 1st and must be completed by July 31st.  Please do not submit a proposal if the project cannot be completed within the allotted time frame.  Ages 18 plus may apply.

Proposal Deadline is June 10th, 2019 at 12pm CST

Awarded proposal will be announced June 14th, 2019

His Helping Hands was started in 2015 by a Bible study group who wanted to be in service to others as an expression of their faith. This outreach assists people through acts of compassion while helping people to care for themselves and their families.  Families may come once a month to search through our donated inventory and select clothes free of charge to meet their needs.

We encourage the artist's interpretation of God's helping hands, reaching out to our community. The artist should not feel limited to the literal use of hands. Originality and creativity are encouraged.

If you would like your work to be considered, please fill out the following application and provide at least one image of your work.
