Janelle Sluyter
Director of Food Services
Janelle enjoys working with awesome volunteers. She says "we have a lot of fun together while we cook and clean. And I love to get a chance to serve many wonderful church members, especially the seniors (they're my favorites!)."
Janelle started volunteering at Daily Bread in 2000. Sheh remembers "back then we served around 75 people a week. Now we serve anywhere from 150-350 depending on the time of year." She has had a lot of on-the-job training through the years. So when the position at the church became available she felt she could do it. I started small and grew from there. "I've learned so much and continue to learn every day."
Janelle married Ken in 1985 and they have four kids together. Three are married and have children of their own. They have eight amazing grandkids they enjoy spoiling a little.
In her spare time, Janelle likes to ride bikes with Ken. She currently helps coach the Springdale Trailblazers, a NICA mountain bike team. They compete against other riders from all parts of the state. They are also part of the OZ Mountain Bike Patrol and help with various events providing first aid and technical support. But they also just ride for fun with the family. Janelle and her husband have a small farm with a few cows and horses. Two of their kids are close by so they will be within walking distance of five grandkids.
