Summer Boyd

Director of Business & Finance

Summer says it was a beautiful teacher, Mrs. Cunningham, who got her into philanthropy at a very young age. "With her help and guidance, I was able to learn that my strength was in organization and management. I donated my time to all sorts of interesting non-profits and found the ones that really touched my heart. For a career, I really didn't know what I wanted to do. My parents were both accountants. I, honestly, wasn't sure there was even an option for me! FUMC gave me a chance to combine my career with my passion. I'm grateful every day for this opportunity!"

Because of her upbringing, Summer naturally gravitated towards a degree in accounting. Her mother had her open her first checking account when she was 7 years old. Summer remembers, "she taught me to budget, spend, and reconcile my bank statement all during my elementary years. In high school, I was awarded the Xerox Award for innovative ways of performing community service and student involvement." Helping others and managing others to do the same became a passion. During college, she started working for a non-profit. Due to life circumstances, a typical job was impossible. Andrew swept in and made it possible not only to work in community service but also in her field of study.

Summer and her husband Josh, both of us graduated from U of A. They have a daughter Olivia, and a son Mason.

In her spare time, Summer likes to bike, read, walk, cook, and watch movies with her family.
