Grace to Wonder
I’m launching a new pastor’s blog, newsletter, whatever you want to call it. We have a history of pastors sending out regular communications, encouragement, and comments on faith and life. I’d like to continue that tradition.I don’t yet know the frequency and it will depend on the season.
I have something to say. I have something to write. In fact, I have so much to say and so much to write, it is like a fire burning inside me get out. To keep it all contained inside would consume me. So, I will say and I will write and we will experience together.
I’m calling this Grace to Wonder. I wrestled with Grace to Wonder and Grace to Wander . . . We wonder in life . . . not all those who wander are lost . . . life is a journey in which we wander the winding path . . .
Yet, I kept coming back to the wonder of God and how we as humans often lose our wonder for creation and need to do better at wondering . . . wondering with each other about God, and wondering at God, and wondering all that God has done and is doing with us and through us.
God’s grace is a mystery. It’s beautiful and awe inspiring. We don’t always see it. We see the effects of it, yet we often don’t realize that we see it until we’ve been transformed by it. While at the same time we wonder how God moves, works, and flows in us and through us. We wonder what God is doing next. We wonder how God can change a situation in our life, in our relationships, in the things that are important to us, and even in the world.
I believe we all need to wonder a little bit more. We need to be in wonder of God. In wonder of God’s presence, grace, and love. We need to wonder, dream, and imagine what God can do when we are willing to allow God to use us. We need to wonder what God will do in spite of us.
Sometimes, as we wonder, we’re going to see and experience different things. You may notice something that I didn’t, or I may notice something else from you.
This is grace to wonder. This is the space we make for each other and for God to transform us through God’s grace to be the people God is recreating us to be and make us more like Jesus.
It’s God’s grace to wonder as we journey through life looking for and seeing God’s presence. Together, we look for and see ways God loves us and ways to love God. With grace to wonder, we can find ways that God loves others through us.
Whether you get one every week, every other week, or multiple times a week, I hope you will journey with me and make space for the grace to wonder. I’ll admit, these won’t all be beautifully edited. Sometimes it’s me. Sometimes it’s the technology we use.
I hope to find the time to read or listen and have those conversations. I hope that you will provide feedback on what you’re thinking and wondering, what your soul needs to hear, what stirs your soul, and what excites you. Share with me how you’ve seen and experienced and known God’s love, how God‘s love transformed you, and how God’s love has worked through
